The construction program in Luang Prabang was an unlikely choice for a 57 year old woman but I thoroughly enjoyed rising to the challenge. Learning new skills, working alongside the lovely coordinators and volunteers from all over the world. An unexpected joy was getting to interact and have fun with so many curious children at the schools where we worked. Add to that sharing daily life with other amazing and interesting volunteers and the gentle kindness of the Lao people, made this an unforgettable experience I would highly recommend.

After a few volunteering trips this was by far the best & you will not regret it! Don’t be scared if you’re on your own, as you’ll meet like minded individuals and the local program leaders will embrace you like family - you have nothing to lose & it’s truly the best way to travel and experience another country and culture! My daughter and I volunteered in Laos teaching English as an 18th Birthday and school graduation gift. This was her choice and she chose the location and program. It was such a wonderful bonding time for us as a mum/daughter. As a mum, to see your young adult thrive in her relationships with the children/young people and to see her excel in my own chosen profession of teaching was wonderful.
